mobile recording ... and there's more...

  • Dr Jekyl location recoridng with Mackie d8b Mixing deskI developed my love of sound recording in the 1970's when I started multi-part recording my own performances by adding new parts with a crystal microphone whilst "bouncing" sound between an old, mono Reel-to-Reel and a cassette recorder.  I later progressed via stereo to 4-track cassette, 8-track reel-to-reel, 8-track cassette and, finally the current top-notch, 24-track digital hard disc set-up.  I love to keep learning about and practicing sound recording.

  • Over the years I have recorded brass bands, silver bands, string quartets, country bands, rock bands, spoken voice, sound FX, musical shows, choirs, techno bands etc in locations that include pubs, clubs, front rooms, town halls, village halls, churches, school halls and my home studio.   As a recording, live sound and SFX engineer, I have worked with live theatrical productions, musical shows, school productions and band performances of different types.

  • Since 1979, I have also written, played and recorded music with the band ‘Trace’ and also played guitar or sound-engineered  for ‘Turnham Green Blues Band’, and the live show bands ’Underdog’ and ‘Fusionz’.

  • I am currently the guitarist, lead and backing vocalist, occasional bass guitarist, sound and recording engineer and technical guru and Musical Director of Premium Banana - a popular party band.

  • For four years I was the Musical Director / orchestra leader for the Community of Hungerford town shows and the productions were  Happy As A Sandbag, Salad Days, Scrooge and Oliver!

  • I also act a bit and have been involved in theatre and show productions, both in singing and non-singing roles.  In 2005 I played Frank Butler in Annie Get Your Gun and in 2006 was Wang Chi Yang in the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical Flower Drum Song.  February 2007 saw me playing Horace Vandergelder, love interest of Dolly Levi in the popular musical Hello, Dolly!  In Feb2008 I played Alfred Locke in the Lionel Bart's musical Blitz!.

  • In previous lives I have worked as Research Scientist, Quality Manager and Environment, Health & Safety Advisor for various multi-national companies.  I have an honours Degree in Metallurgy (BSc (Eng) ARSM) and a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA).  I also hold two NEBOSH qualifications: a National General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health and a Specialist Diploma in Environmental Management.  I was also a Chartered Engineer for 20 years.  This means I can also offer Technical Authoring & Web Design skills with Health, Safety and Environmental Management consultancy skills..

  • I am married to a very understanding and talented wife and have two talented daughters.
